Rob's Story
Life
Went into Army Reserves after High School, suffered through a BS in Physics at ODU, then MS at VaTech in EE / Physics. Married since 1994. I was working in Austin TX for Motorola; currently working in FTTx/xDSL h/w for Alcatel in Raleigh NC. New child born 06/01. Wow where have the years gone... College
Was in Army bootcamp until January 1989. Entered into Engineering department, until 1991 I entered into physics department. I figured it was more interesting than Electrical Engineering. ODU seemed to be a commuter school, however, so I never got involved too much in the extr...Expand for more
a-cirricular stuff besides IVCF.
I worked at CEBAF while going to ODU, for about 2 years. I was working with other EE's for a year then switched to working with physics people. Ironically, a lot of stuff I learned in EE I am still using today, unlike the physics stuff.
After ODU, I went to Virginia Tech physics dept., took all classes to get MS and was proceeding to get my PhD. but then job outlook was really bleek. I then switched fields to Electrical Engineering and got my degree in 1998. Virginia Tech was a great school and Blacksburg was certainly opposite to the city life at ODU.
Currently married to Amy Edwards, with one son (Benjamin).
