Rob's Story
Life
Since graduation in '81, I went on to Ohio University (where people started calling me "Bob" instead of "Rob") and earned a BA in history. Then I entered a master's degree program at Wright State University, and got an MA in history in 1987. Since then, I've worked for the Tampa City Archives as the Assistant City Archivist, the Virginia Historical Society as an assistant archivist, the Kansas State Historical Society as a processing archivist, the New London County (CT) Historical Society as the historic site administrator/librarian/archivist, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as the curator of manuscripts, and Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary as the director of library and archives. collections librarian. Starting in July of 2019 "they" gave me a new job as the "Research and Archives Services Librarian." Life has been quite a trip, and I am glad that I was able to establish a career in the discipline of history, which I love. While in Kansas I earned an MBA from Baker University (2001). My latest degree is a master's in library and information studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, which I completed in the summer of 2012.
I never got married, and have no kids. I've published one book and have plans for more.
Oddly enough, I bumped into an old acquaintance while on vacation on Roanoke Island, NC in June of 2007. It was Mrs. Casto, one of the kindergarten teachers in our school! What are the chances of something like that happening?
