Robert (Bob)'s Story

Life My parents rented a a townhouse on Glenway Drive in around the time my brother was born, in 1965. My brother, my mother and I stayed in the townhouse even after my parents divorced in 1970. I remember my neighbors being the O'Blacks, the Andersons among many families I knew. In December 1973, my mother had purchased a home, located at 6076 Gilmere Drive, Brookpark Ohio. Being single, she had saved enough money where me and my brother could move in allowing us to have, among other things, our own bedrooms, and a large yard to play in. We met some pretty amazing people while living there, like the Fedricks, the Ichini, the Gilberts, among many. We did have one phycho family, who happened to live next to us at the time. The family's name was the Kemmets. Anyways, my mother remarried in November 1976. My stepfather had four children of his own. By 1980, the house me and my brother grew up in became too small between us six teenaged kids. My parents then sold the home and moved to Strongsville Ohio, ugh! After I graduated from High School, I traveled to different cities visiting relatives. At the beginning of 1983, I, along with my family, moved to "Paradise", Deerfield Beach. and then Boca Raton, Florida. I loved the weather there and especially loved the beach at night with the ocean breezes and starlit skies. Nothing beats waking up before sunrise to watch ths sun rise over the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. I bought my first car, a 1965 Dodge Polaria, then bought my first new car, a 1987 Pontiac Sunbird, which I totally hated. The people were great, the weather was fantastic and I made lots of friends. When I left Gray Drugs toward the end of 1987, I moved back to Cleveland, OH at the beginning of 1988. Originally, I moved back due to my grandmothers ailing health, but found life different here verses before I left. During the next 5 years, before my grandmother passed, I decided to enter College and, fall in love with the person of my dreams...Expand for more
, from out of no where. After my grandmothers death, instead of moving back to Florida, I decided to stay and with the help of my partner, we bought a house in Cleveland's Ohio City Neighborhood. We both been living here in this ole house since 1994. I graduated from College in July 1995, and went to work for Sunoco Oil. In 1996, we found ourselves, becoming parents to a Mix Calico Cat named Mix and a Jack Russell Terrior Mix Dog <shhhh, she doesnt know she is a dog> named Patches. Before the end of 1998, I lost my dearly beloved Mix due to some moron driver, driving down the street, at high speed, striking her and killing her, along with her offspring, Oreo. I had to retire from work in December 1998 due to declining health. Bu the first three months of 1999 rolled around, I found out that my Kidneys were failing, infections to the left foot, high blood pressure, and other complications associated with Type One Diabetes since the age of seven. By the end of 1999, I was on Kidney Dialysis, three times a week, and suffering from an ailing left leg, which had to be removed, from below the knee, in January 2001. During this time, I had qualified for a double transplant, being a pancreas and kidney and thus began a looonnngggg wait. On Saturday, November 26, 2004, I finally got the call that gave me the second chance in life, a cadavor kidney and pancreas. I was in the hospital for a short period of time and to this day, I have had no problems with my organs. Unfortunately, I do suffer from other chronic illnesses due to being on Kidney Dialysis and long term Diabetes. Thru all I have gone thru and still going thru, my partner of now sixteen years, and my "firkid" who is now eleven, are with me, by my side. All I can say is with my health is this: "Be A Hero" donate an organ. I thank the person who died so that I could get the second chance I deserved. Too bad none of my friends from school ever took the time to acknowlege I was still around, and kicking
