Robert (Pete)'s Story

College Univ. of Maryland, in Rabat and Casablanca, Morocco, 1960-1961. Middle Tenn State Univ. 1964 Austin P. State College 1965 University of Tenn. 1966-1967, BSBA, Dec 1967. Lousianna Tech Univ. 1969-1970, MBA 1970 Military If I'm anything, I owe it to the Air Force. I quit school in the 9th grade when I was 16 and joined the Air Force on Mar 31, 1955. I completed the GED, took college classes, and after 11 years of enlisted service, I was selected into the Airman's Education and Commissining Program. The A F sent me to the University Of Tennessee where I graduated in Dec 67 with a BSBA. I attended Officer Training School and, at age 29 3/4,was commisioned as the oldest 2nd LT in the Air Force. Two years later I was accepted into the Graduate Program of the Air Force Institude of Technology (AFIT) and was sent to Lousiana Tech University and received a MBA in Finacial Management in Aug 1971. I received an equivalent MBA by completing the one-year AFIT Education With Industry Program while assigned The AVCO Corp., a major defense contractor, at Stratford, Conn. in June 1973. ears, I was an electronics technition and served as a combat control team member, a very small A F unit that went into combat areas ahead of a main army task force by parachute, scuba or overland infiltration and establish navigational aids, marked landing, extraction and drop zones and operated the air traffic control for the main assault force aircraft which followed. After receiving my commission, I returned to my old unit as a team leader until I attended graduate school. After graduate school and military procurement school, I was assigned as a contracting officer to write and terminate contracts for the Air Force with major defense contractors. My location assignments in the US included: Tex, Ill, UT, SC, LA (2 times), TN (3 times), ARK, MA and AK. My overseas and travel assignments incuded: Morocco, Germany, Costa Rica, Panama, Iran, and Bolivia. I retired on April 1, 1978 in Anchorage after 23 of the best years of my life. Along the way, I added my wife of the past 45 years, three daughters and four grandkids. I'm now a retired real estate broker, developer and custom home and commercial builder.
