Robert's Story
Hello everyone. WOW! 31 years has passed. I have no regrets although my life and journey continue to unfold and I think it has been so wonderful even through the most difficult of times. I served 20 years in the Army. Returned to College full-time in 2011 to complete a lifelong goal and I have only 8 classes to complete and I can officially say I will have a BS in Accounting from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC. The military life wasn't the easiest way to go now that I realize I have resources and options. But I am truly grateful for serving and those that have served. The long deployments and family separation which I paid dearly for was huge but that's part of the sacrifice we pay in life. I have learned many times over that when one door closes another door opens. When I got downsized in 2011, I returned to college to attain my BS in Accounting. Made the Dean's List 5 consecutive semesters so far. During the Summer of 2013 I went to Guatemala for 6 weeks to learn Spanish and WOW! Mencanta La Vida Mucho. I lived with a Spanish family, attended Spanish ...Expand for more
school everyday, and volunteered in the community. The entire experience was worth the risk and then some. Once I learned Spanish I got an A in SPA101 during the fall semester at Methodist University. By the way, Methodist University has the best golf program in the country and the championships speak for themselves year after year. I feel young at heart and still believe at almost 50 years old I have a lot to offer. After graduation in December 2014, my wife and I are going to sell the home in NC and relocate to Myrtle Beach, SC for the duration. The one place we both love that we consider our final destination. Well hope everyone is well and Happy New Year and be good to yourselves!
As of June 19, 2015. I graduated from Methodist University in December 2015 with BS in Accounting. I am currently a graduate Student at Methodist University. I have a great job with the Federal Government. I am a federal auditor at Fort Bragg, NC. I recently purchased my 2nd home in Myrtle Beach, SC. 2.2 miles from the beach we totally love it. Life is so good even at age 50.
