Robert's Story
Looking back, I would say that my Vietnam experience in (photo recon) wasn’t quite as depressing as my Saint Anthony’s experience (Haa Haa!).
I wanted to go to Macgomery Blair high schoolI. I knew it would have more activities to offer. Well, my parents had the right intention but that didn’t cure my resentment from being at St Anthonys so I acted accordingly! HaaaHaaa! Five years later, my sister went there and she asked me if I thought “those kids were friendly?”& I blurted out “No!” She agreed. “Catholic guilt.” There is an author I think it’s Mary McCarthy who writes novels concerning Catholic guilt. it; I sure don’t want to read about it. Ancient history.. After Vietnam and since then I have truly felt that “someone up there must really like me” because it’s a wonder that I’m actually here In spite of acquiring PTSD, epilepsy ………..& St. Anthony’s (HaaaHaaa!!) I’m still thankful and feel lucky to have been brought up in the USA. The military,, which I also hated, gave me the power of film & photography. I’m actually burnt out on that and I’m really into drawing and painting now.
Regardless, as to whether anyone responds to this is immaterial to me. Writing it down many decades later has been satisfying and enough.
