Robert's Story
Life
In a quick synopsis of the recent past. Got a house, got married, work as a Sheet Metal Worker. Now have one 9 year old son. Went to Baghdad, Iraq from 11/04 to 11/05 as a civilian contractor to help the ISG/Intelligence Branch with their HVAC problems (got paid good to fix air conditioners, dodge mortars and see dust storms). I volunteer time online and with local people in the technical support of Classic Chrysler rear wheel drive cars.
College
Geeky, swimmer kid leaves high school. Not sure what he wants to do other than work on his life long dream of Anthropology and possibly teaching. A 4 1/2 year journey of self exploration found that Anthropology wasn't the only interest to study, psychology, geology, the need to understand how and why people make war. New hobbies surfaced, record collecting, being offered a disc jockey position and helping to motivate the new student radio station on U of O's campus, music trivia. I also had made friends in many diverse interest areas oddly forming a kind of virtual 'think-tank'. Knowledge is a powerful tool if you know how to use it.
With the advent of measure 5, teaching went out the window...but I still take the time to help people who ask to ...Expand for more

Workplace
I've been a Sheetmetal worker in the trade since 1992. Oddly my uncle told me I could pay off my college loans in a hurry doing some 'quick and dirty' work. He was right. It allowed me to use my education for a different field altogether, paid off my college loans in less than 2 years. Not more than 4 years into my career I had already doubled my paycheck and was promoted to shop foreman. Finally I switched to a different company, I'm no longer 'middle' management, but I'm pretty happy working out logistics and helping make 2-D plans into 3-D realities and keeping the air warm/cold and fresh in many schools and institutions in Oregon and Washington....
Fast forward... Life continues on... Son is now 16 (boy my dad was right I need to own a farm to feed him)... Divorced and have a little place outside of Salem I can work on my Mopar projects and just relax for the daily grind... Have been a Project Manager in the HVAC field for 10 years and am helping the company I work for evolve past their niche to be able to tackle larger projects and become a diversified company that can design build projects for a varied field of clients...
