Robert's Story
June 2015: Have sold my house in Haliburton, will miss the view but not the speeding traffic that the inept, dirty cops ( OPP ) totally ignore as they are next to useless and quite possibly on the take as well - the known drug dealers up here carry on with no interference from the law. How sweet is that !!
Anyway, am moving to a lovely place in a quiet area with great neighbours, lot of activities, close to good hockey ( Detroit Red Wings at reasonable prices ), baseball ( Detroit Tigers at reasonable prices ) NFL football, and NBA.
Also southwestern is a lot warmer than Haliburton in the winter ( fuel savings alone will afford me a yearly membership at the local country club )
Also closer to the USA border for faster trips to Florida and southern USA.

It is another year and all is well, considering that I am on the proper side of the sod. The only negative is that I am still in the Haliburton/Minden area. But the final touches are being completed on my house so I am closer to moving. Had a great winter, went to a place called " The Villages " in Fla. north of Orlando. Check it out on the web. It won't be a disappointment !! Possibly the most amazing place in the world for retired persons. While there, took golf and bowling lessons. Over 200 clubs to join, about 50 sports of all levels, great food, nightly LIVE entetainment, and much much more ! GREAT !! Also bought a 63 Ford Galaxie 500 XL convertible last year, so have something to bring to our next reunion in 2013 at BHS. Love the ride !!! Going back to the Villages this winter, possibly for 5 months. Expect to have a special friend come for the summer months so will be travelling throughout Canada over the months ahead. Also thinking of getting my pilot's licence back. Have to get this bucket list moving forward !!
Update: October 2009:
Well I found out I can still play golf, not as good as before ( so that means I am asked for a higher handicap and more strokes from my opponents ) haha. New plans in the works is to start a dearch for a building site in the Belleville Ontario area that is on lake Ontario, as I plan to build a house/home there that will be my finest and last one. Stay tuned ! haha
* The helicoptor ride had to be cancelled at the last moment so it is back in the bucket for another time ! (Sad frown) but did get to Sedona and the Grand Canyon again. Still as beautiful as I remembered it from before.
Update: August 2009:
Well, am adjusting to a lost finger and a badly fractured wrist, just hope I can still play some golf, but that means I get a 20 stroke handicap - automatic :)

Update Febuary 2008 ! The year has passed quickly. Seems each year goes a little faster. Too much to do and the `Bucket List `is being compiled. The renovations are nearing the end of another phase and the exterior is about all that is left. During th...Expand for more
e past year, I have been blessed with a wonderful little but fast growing grandson who is as happy a child as I could imagine. I had never known how great those little ones are, especially when I can play with h8im and when he needs a diaper change, I just call his mom and update her as to what needs changing !! hahaha The marvels of being a grandfather ! I can see that travel will play a big role in his life when he is old enough to go on his own and is potty trained !! haha Just joking, I think I am up to the tast if called upon ! The reunion at BHS is only about 7 1/2 months off and I do hope that the lass of ô63 will turn out for part or all of the events during that this event !!!
Update january 2007 ! Am hanging my hat in the Haliburton, Ontario area next to a lake & am in the final stages of my near 4 years of house renovations ! Gone are the green, yellow and redish orange shag carpeting and the often discovered 5 layers of ugly wallpaper ! In it's place will be hardwood and laminante flooring and cream colour berber in the bedrooms, as well as pine planked walls and dropped lighting !! Also during the year a new ebtire livingroonm, diningroom, andf kitchen will be installed ( maple cabinetry and birch hardwood floors with new sliding wall to wall glass doors and side lights ! ) Some difference ! Did I mention finally having insulation in the walls ? Every single item is new as opposed to 35 and 115 years ago when this place was first built and added on to !! This love-hate adventure is coming to an end I susect before the summer of 2007, & while I have learned a lot by trial and error or watching experts, I hope to never need to adapt these new found skills again ! My travels have taken me to Calgary, Banff, Vancouver, the island, and Whistler to the west, Lac St Jean to the east and several trips to Brasil and a couple to Florida over the past year. In about 1 year, I am contemplating moving to the west coast onto the Island as I have had enough of these cold white winters !! the contemplating part of all this wil be to see if the storms of this winter out west were a fluke or a pattern of things to come ?? Hope that the class of '63 can start to organize for the 2008 BHS Reunion !!! I would be happy to help start the ball rolling !! If anyone else is interested, then send me a note !! Surely we can make it a 2 or 3 day event with some interesting activities, as many or most of us will be retired by then and with no diapers to change, we can spend some time having a few laughs while talking over the past and maybe even expanding the twisted memories of what we recall as being the truth on a few of those old events !! That also goes for the Class of '58 from Dorval Gardens if we can get those members away from their warm milk and wheat toast !! :-)
Hope to hear from any and all of you at some point and if you feel you might make it to the BHS or DGS Reunion then that would be a great bonus !! Lets start now to plan something that will be memorable and enjoyable !!
The wearmest of regards to everyone I knew back then !!
