Robert's Story
School
I jumped from high school 4 months before graduation. I hated school, and went into the Navy. Uncle Sam immediately made me finish high school(not GED), sent me to electricians school, submarine and divers school.Upon discharge, went for classes in math, chemistry, and physics at Akron U., while with the Ohio State Patrol. Interest in firearms led to part time work as a gunsmith.Jumped to the Cleveland Police dept.Took several courses in Smithing (diplomas cover the walls).Upon retirement, moved to Colorado and worked in a friends gunshop. Returned to Barberton in '95 figuring to spend the summer and somehow have never left.I presently teach Gunsmithing here as I have a small machine shop (lathe/mill,surface grinder, etc)and a set of work benches located in the basement. Presently, I am helping a student set up a smithing shop w/retail in Brinkhaven and am in the process of moving the equipment down there along the Mohican river.
I enjoy listening to polka music and singing at the Frat Order of Police Hall in Akron and the Sokal Club in Barberton. Its rough trying to teach classmates such as Rich Underation ...Expand for more
(Slovak) to sing in German.
He's doing better at getting me into Slovak and Slovenian than I am getting to him. Motorcycling through the West (mainly ghost towns and old mining camps) are high interest for me.My camping days are cutting short due to age. I tend to camp in Holiday Inns and Ramadas more frequently. So from a 6'3" skinny high schooler who was always getting into trouble, I've become a 6' spread out (close to 300 lbs) ton of conservative fun. Love my dark beer and sea food, love cooking, love classical music. Gardening skills leave a bit to be desired. Shooting skills are still on the money. My high school long blond hair with the D.A. have now gone to a shaved head (since my Navy days) and the body is quite scarred up due to the fun I had getting to this age. One friend (retired) stated he was bored upon retirement,as no one came by. Himmel!! I've been thinking about putting swinging saloon doors on my house. I'm never alone, been two visits and umpteen phone calls since typing this bio.I'm in the phone book although you'll no doubt hit the machine. But leave a name and number,I always get back to ya.
