Robert's Story
Life
Hi world, what's happening? Where is everybody???
I'm an Architect, living in Minnesota and trying to spend my life in the North Woods.
Served with Navy Seabees MCB 58 in 1967-68. Spent last year in as a Military Training Instructor at Davisville, RI. Returned to Minnesota in 1976.
Like to hear from my old friends..or make new ones.
School
After high school I joined the Navy, spent 15 months in Vietnam with the Seabees and a year as a Military Training Instructor. Got out in 1969, stayed in RI and studied Architecture in Boston. Returned to Minnesota in 1976 and have been trying to find long term employment ever since. Married 3 times, all were/are failures. This one is getting better, I hope.
College
Hung around RI, going to school in Boston until 1976, there were NO jobs in New England unless you were in the click. I think things are still like that, there.
Returned to Minnesota, where I developed great skills. Unfortunately Architects are egominiacs and I don't deal well with egos. I'm still NOT in a click and too old to change p...Expand for more
rofessions. I guess Architecture was NOT the field for me, even if I do ENJOY what I do.
Workplace
I've been an Architect since 1970, studied in Boston. Designed and oversaw construction of many building types all over the world and really enjoy what I do, just not the people I work with (see college bio).
Sorry, I'm just very disappointed with the type of people I'm forced to work with.
Military
The Army drafted me in November, 1965. I joined the Navy in March, 1966. Volunteered for the Seabees as a Heavy Equipment Operator; home based at Davisville, RI with MCB 58; made my first tour to Nam in January, 1967; stationed in DaNang on Red Beach returned June, 1967. Second tour December, 1967 to August, 1968. Travelled most of I Corp building Route 1 from the DMZ to Hoi An. Spent the first week of TET, 1968 in Hue trying to get out of town.
Returned to states; went to Little Creek, VA for 3 months; returned to D'ville and spent my last year as a Military Training Instructor at Camp Fogarty.
They were the BEST years of my life!!!! And I miss them.
