Robert's Story
Life
After HS graduation, in the Fall of 1958, I started attending OSU, along with about 5,000 other Freshmen. Due to limited college funds, I worked 15 months, then returned to OSU for my Sophomore year from Sept.,1960 - June, 1961. I served in U.S. Army, Sept.,1961 - Sept.,1963, including service during the so-called Cuban "Missle" Crisis; re-entered OSU Sept. 1963 & graduated from OSU with a BSc in Psychology in June, 1965; married 1964 to Barbara Lee, who graduated Capital Univ., May,1964 with a BSN; retired State of Ohio employee after 27 years; current address: Lancaster, OH. Older son, Ted, PhD,Elect. Eng., Cornell Univ.; works as Dept. of AF civilian employee on military GPS systems, at, and out of, Hanscomb AFB, MA; younger son, Jon, BSc, Mech.Eng, Ohio Univ., lives in Westerville, OH, with wife, Michele (formerly of Gallipolis, OH), MBA, OU & children, Marielle & Ian. Jon works for CMHC Systems in Dublin, OH.
School

ullivan High Schools took place that Summer, the last two graduations to take place on Spencer High School's stage were the Spencer contingent of Black River High School. The Spencer portion of the 1960 Black River graduating class included my younger brother, Donald (our mother, Wilma Wood Beach, was a member of the 1924 graduating class, which was the first to graduate from that same stage).
College
I first enrolled at OSU in Sept., 1958, along with an estimated 4,999 other Freshmen, in the College of Arts & Sciences to pursue a BSc in Chemistry. I lived in the old(pre-scholarship) Stadium Dorm,Scioto Club, 1-S, until we were relocated to the 11th Ave., high-rise dorms, Stradley & Park Halls, at the end of Fall & Winter Quarters. I was a Freshman the same year as basketball stars, Jerry Lucas, John Havilchek(sp), Bobby Knight & Mel Newell, & Woody Hayes' fullback from 1959 to 1962, Bob Ferguson (Freshmen didn't play Varsity sports, at that time, & fullback, Bob White was a Senior that year). I attended OSU from Sept.,1958 to June, 1959. By the end of my Freshman year, I had changed my major to the Social Sciences,then more specifically to Psychology,but continued to pursue a BSc instead of a BA degree. I was a Sophomore at OSU from Sept., 1960 to June, 1961. After serving two years in the U.S.Army, I again attended from Sept., 1963 to June, 1965, & graduated in June, 1965, with a BSc in psychology.
