Robert's Story

I quit school 65 went to work in quincy IL. had a few jobs then i got hired on at speed rack as a weilder. then got married though things whear going good then i got the notties from uncle sam wife went nut's ; went to draft bord told them i was married and she was exspecting they chang my draft stats. she was happy now. then about a week leatter i join the army. went home told her at first she diden't like it but relized it was somthing i had to do.so off to fort leonardwood for traineing, then i was sent to fort Bragg for more advance trainning then sent to fort benning for jungle traineing'then back to Bragg for two weeks leve then off to the VeitNam 2/15/1968 was there till 4/18/69 back to state side went to Germany 8/69 was thire till 3/71 sent back to Bragg then i volentired agin for VietNam I arived at Da Nang aire base still the same heat & stench. but i felt more at home now as i new what was exspected of me hear not like the bull back state side. injuerd back . they operated it came out good. but i was trans ferd to Fort Riley for light Duty was there till 74 them put in for my discharge. tryed a few things on my owen things dident work out went thrue...Expand for more
the devorce. it was the best at the time that was in 79. got remarride in 85 was on my owen agin in 1990 was offer a job with the defence dept dident think i would get it but they called and said the job was mine so i took it was sent to Montrey Ca. was there till 2004.was offer a job working at the Marine air base in SanDigo it came with a promotion this turen out to be a veary good thing for me as you haft to go threw a physical. dident pass the Navy Doc. said she would not let me returen to my job put me on light duty dident like this put in for my retirement. bought a custom built home with about five acres love it hear. belive ill go fishing this summer,had some rough times since Ewing but it's all good now, doing well. you doun't reely want to know yes my Dad he never gave up on me.for with out his gidence i would be nowear today The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Colonel John Paul Vann, because his honstyand a leader to his men. My best friend would tell you I'm sincer person, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as a lonner. that would be joe we have been intouch since i left school in 64
