Robert's Story
I sit here looking south to the land of 8.5 million people
They fly by, overhead, on either side and right by me
Seeking their treasures ,nursing their babes and counting sheep
At times I am with them in their deeds, but not when we sleep,
Of course we are all alone then, is that the time for planting seeds,
That in the daytime will bring an end to my loneliness
Give me inner peace and the wealth to turn my dreams to reality
Instead of insecurity and despair,
The air up there where I want to be in is thin.
Time will go by while I'm here, Alone with 8.5 million people
I would like to greet them should we meet
That would be neat as they fly , drive and walk right by,
I extend a hand, we listen to the band as it plays a tune
But no one can hear it when its over, so lets stop the game
Of keeping up and show our strength by bending down,
And pick up the ones we say cant help us, For I feel,
In the length of time we are...Expand for more
all the same, alone with 8.5 million people.
My identity is not the same as when I was three,
And tomorrow I shall become a new being for all the world's reality
A child, adolescent leading to adult, you must bear the pain,
Realize the pleasure and accept the responsibility with insult
Your measure of success depends,don't delay
You must start in today.
Bones, hair, with skin so fair the mirror reflects with flair,
When I look I see more,
Secrets of the soul through the pores.
Take all you can from man to devise your plan.
Your identity this all depends and lends direction,
You must follow lest you become hollow.
I was not wise from the gate I learned these lessons late,
With inner struggle I never felt secure to snuggle.
I tried to fit in, but was left in the bin of despair.
Remember to stay your course through all hardships,
Use the light of the world and confess His name,
Your true identity, He sees the same.
