Robert's Story
Life
I graduated from West Georgia College in 1970 with a Batchelors degree in Chemistry and Physics. I spent 2 years in the USArmy as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist (Bomb Squad). I joined the US Food and Drug Administration as an Investigator in 1972. I began specializing in sterile drug manufacturing in 1976. I joined the Foreign Inspection program in 1977 and have extensively traveled in Europe, South America, Near East, Far East, Africa and Australasia. I have been to 109 different countries, all 50 US States, all inhabited US Territories plus 2 uninhabited US Territories. I performed criminal investigations for two years related to steroids. I was the National Drug Expert Investigator for sterile pharmaceuticals. Member of the Parenteral Drug Assoc.; International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers; British Parenteral Society; Nordic R-3; American Society for Quality; Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society; Drug Information Association; ASHRAE. I am an adjunct professor at Campbell University (NC) and the Univ. of GA (Athens). I was retired for about 6 weeks and now am consulting along with my wife. I am still doing a lot of international travel.
School
I attended Garden Hills Elementary School in Fulton County. I then attended Briarcliff HS from 1960-65. I attended Georgia Tech for 1 year. I transferred to West GA College and graduated from there in 1970. I have completed post graduate work at the Univ. of Rhode Island (School of Pharmacy); Univ. of Tenn. at Memphis (School of Pharmacy); Univ. of Houston (Medical School); Purdue Univ. (School of Pharmacy); Univ. of Tenn (School of Pharmacy); Univ. of Washington (Chem. Eng.). I have also completed the Federal Law Enforcement Training Course in Glynco, GA.
College

Workplace
My professional career has been as an Investigator with the US Food & Drug Administration in Atlanta, GA. I have inspected virtually all types of industry associated with foods, drugs, medical devices, biologics, & bioresearch. I was a National Expert in Pharmaceuticals specializing in sterile drug manufacturing. I have conducted inspections in all areas of the US as well as in Europe, the Far East, the Near East, South America, Africa, and Australasia. I have conducted numerous criminal investigations with the FDA. I routinely represented the US Gov't in various Agreement talks with other countries. I was the lead instructor in several of the FDA training courses and am also an adjunct professor with several Universities. I began my career in 1972. I am now retired. My wife who was a National Expert in Medical Devices is also retired. We are now both part time consultants to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
Military
I was drafted into the USArmy in 1970. Basic Training was at Ft. Jackson, SC. I volunteered to specialize in Explosive Ordnance Disposal (the bomb squad). My next stop was Ft. McClellan, AL for chemical and biological warfare training. Next was Indian Head Naval Ordnance School, Indian Head, MD. My final duty station was the 146th EOD Detachment, Scotia, NY. I separated from the USArmy in 1972.
