Robert (Bob)'s Story
So, time to fess up. I had a tough time at Kettering. Decades later I found it was due to depression, anxiety and ADHD. I thought the whole world was a mess, and rather than looking inward, I blamed everyone else for how I felt.
It wasn't all bad., but the bad wiped out most of the good. As a result, I have retained so few memories of Kettering. It's like it's a blank period in my life I merely survived, rather than lived. I have had classmates contact me over the years, only to be hurt by my lack of shared memories. The thing is, I now know the memories are still there, but I have lost easy access to them, and need help refreshing them, bringing them to the fore.
In 2024 I would LOVE to attend a 50th anniversary gathering of...Expand for more
our class. Not just for an evening, but for a week or two. There are so many of you I want to reclaim as important parts of those years! The list of names starts Rick Reynolds, Debbie Hall, and Cathy Throop, then goes on from there.
As for my life since Kettering, it's been fun! I joined the US Navy in '75, had a fantastic 6 years there, the best part of which was landing in San Diego. I starting attending UC San Diego in 1981, working my way through college to graduate in 1986 with a degree in Computer Engineering. I was an engineer for the next 35 years.
I recently decided it was time for Career 2.0. After over a decade as a volunteer coach for adult beginner triathletes, I'm currently studying to become a Personal Trainer!
