Robert E.'s Story
Life
Served in Viet Nam (1967-68) Been employed by the Postal Service since 1972. Write poetry and song lyrics and been published in the National Poetry Society in Washington, D.C. You can find my poetry on "poetry.com" web site. Love to sing ballads and barbershop. In fact, my quartet, Stateline, just went through our first competition after reorganizing and took first place in the Maine, New Hampshire and northern Mass. division. We were surprised and humbled. But now we can grown and try again next year for more points and a shot at the District Championship.
The current photo is of my wife, Mimi, and I at my daughter's wedding in Wisconsin in '99. I now am the proud grandfather of two beautiful grand daughters, Kira (17) and Nora(14). Sweet, but too far away. The best part is, my wife and I have someplace to visit in our travels.
Retired 7/30/04, after 32 years in the Post Office and am loving it. Free time and filling it up with what I want to do.
We went to Hawaii (May '05) and reunited with some old Army buddies from 'Nam. We are now planning on a camping trip to Alaska in '08. It's always been a dream to go there and see what God left behind for the rest of us to enjoy. Now we will get a chance to see it before it's all gone.
UPDATE!
Jan.5.2011...Still living in New Hampshire, still retired. I'm waiting for Spring to melt the snow, turn up the tempts, and get my bicycle ready for some hard riding. Usually get in 20 miles, 2 1/2 to 3 hours...soaking wet when I'm done. I like pushing myself, working hard. Can't do much on one leg, but I do what I can and I try to over do. I enjoy it, I enjoy anything! I enjoy sitting behind the whe...Expand for more
el of my motor home and driving, anywhere & everywhere., and I take the bike with me. I'm not leaving my wife out of this, she's always there. The US is so big and so beautiful, why would I want to venture outside our borders? Canada is an exception...you have to venture thru it to get to Alaska. And there are too many places I have not seen yet. I've got a daughter in Wisconsin with my 2 grand daughters. I've got a good friend in Michigan...we get together from time to time. Friends and family in California, New Mexico, Florida, Texas, Alaska, Vermont, Nevada...who knows where else. I haven't seen them all. But I will. Got a question, ask me.
Update! had a hip replaced on Dec.24, 2014. Went home on Christmas Day. I still feel good with it. Then I had my left knee replaced on June 10, 2016. It's going to be a lot of work coming back from this one. Even my PT guy tells me knee replacements are the most difficult replacement surgeries to come back from..and do it right. The Quads are truly compromised during the surgery..a great deal of atrophy. Now it will take me at least 6 months to get back up to where I want to be.
We haven't been out with the camper for almost two years. Anyone want to buy a 2009 Navion Iq. It's made by Winnebago so you know it's a well made. Some folks say it still smells like new. That's because we have taken good care of it. It's raised off the ground and covered in Winter. It only has 30,000 miles and is most fun to sit behind the wheel. Telephone 603-242-6627 or 603-757-3514. Give me a call.
Next time...after the 50th Reunion. Looking forward to it.
Later...another update will appear as time permits. Hold tight...
