Robert's Story
Life
A lot has transpired since 1974. However, I am most content with the outcome. In 1981 I changed my last name from Eddington to my mother's maiden name of Triozzi. I left Harrison in 1982 moving to Rome, Italy - it was originally a vacation but I wound up staying.
Due to my experiences as an officer with the Harrison Fire Department I became the Fire Protection Officer for the U.S. Embassies in Rome and the Vatican. By this time I held the rank of Captain. In 1991 I created the first volunteer Fire Dept comprised of soldiers on the NATO installation in Vicenza - Northern Italy.
In 1993 I went with the United Nations Mission to Bosnia chasing fires and dodging bullets and mortars with the Sarajevo F.D. After the war I returned to Rome as Assistant Fire Chief to provide fire safety for the United Nations out of the Rome HQ. This brought me to places such as Angola, Tanzania, Kenya, Indonesia and back to the Balkans. In '99 I was appointed as the United Nations Fire Chief and given the job of reorganizing the Fire Service of Kosovo, wh...Expand for more
ere I stayed for 26 months.
Subsequently, with the termination of U.N. Fire Rescue Operations, I created the Fire Rescue Development Program (FRDP) which operates under the auspices of the UN, going around the world reorganizing and training firemen in Third World and war torn countries - including Iraq and more recently becoming more involved in the Persian Gulf area, Afghanistan, Haiti and Lebanon. Totally I've worked with firemen in 43 countries on 5 continents including in 5 war zones or areas of civil unrest. The FRDP is headquartered in Rome with offices 5 other countries. The FRDP is comprised of firefighters from 12 countries on 5 continents.
On the personal side of my life, I own a home in the suburbs of Rome on Lake Bracciano. I stay active physically and have become quite the cook as well. Many dinners take place at my house on a regular basis. I am unfortunately still single although there were three near "Mrs".
Anyone visiting Rome should let me know. I'll be glad to play tour guide and help out with accomodations etc.
