thought I'd like to be a "Renaissance man", and I'm still trying. School I started out at a public school kindergarten that was held in a Methodist Church (and now kids can't even pray in school!) We lived in Wayne, Ohio (about 45 miles south of Toledo). I went through the fourth grade there and was broken hearted to move in the summer of 1963. Move we did - to Fairborn, Ohio and I attended fifth grade at Five Points Elementary School from Sep '63 till Feb '64. My most vivid memory of Fairborn is the teacher returning to class after recess and telling everyone that President Kennedy was shot. It's true - if you were alive and conscious, you remember where you were. We were back on the road, moving to Inkster MI. I finished elementary school at Daly Elementary. This was the same school that my mother had attended when she was a kid. It had been renovated and enlarged, but the original building was still standing. I went to Roosevelt Jr. High, playing football and swimming. Neither team was all that memorable, but I remember having fun. I distinctly remember that there was a lack of instruction on any thing other than rudimentary blocking and running. I went to on to Robichaud. I quit in my senior year and then enrolled at Cherry Hill High. I still didn't finish - but took a GED and joined the Navy. It's taken me awhile, but I'm finally going to get a BS in Nuclear Physics.
