Life
After high school, was married at 18, divorced at 20, no kids, wandered to Univ. Houston degree in English lit, worked at university, edited alternative weekly Public News in Houston, played in new wave bands, did corp. communications for utility in Houston, then went to California in 1996, got reporter job covering financial energy news by answering ad in LATimes, moved to New York in Jan 2000, worked next door to WTC, then joined Reuters in Oct 2001... i've always said i've had more fun than my budget should've allowed. Hobby was travel, music, the arts... So i've essentially taken the semislacker attitude and training from my early days and extended it into the adult format...or something...

graduated from Lamar in Houston. So that is why I am not listed in anyone's senior yearbook. But I was in Creek student council, ran track for Coach Blansit, some of the usual things...At Lamar I had a small part in the spring musical production of Cabaret. I wasn't a very big blip on anyone's radar at any of the schools, but I was a journalist's son so I paid attention and appreciated all of you and enjoy seeing how it all turned out.
Workplace
After stint as editor-in-chief of alt weekly (Public News) in Houston in early 80s, had various editing, advertising writing jobs before working corporate communications for Houston utility until left for California in 1996 where I became a financial news reporter. I now cover oil futures and related issues, occasionaly do various general news or entertainment-related stories. Love it but mainly love working/living in New York. While mostly learned on the fly I do love the chase and the occasional scoop.
