Robert's Story
To those of you who know me, y'all know that I was a little quiet in school. I kept mostly to my studies. I didn't play sports. I hung out with only a few people, but would talk to anyone who befriended me. I didn't go to football games or any other sports, so I got lucky that I was able to meet my future wife (Dora Gaona, who used to play on the Varsity Volleyball team along with her two sisters) right before prom. We went to prom together as friends and ended up keeping in touch after graduation (I have to thank Arcadio Padilla for that, since he gave me a ride to see her for the first time after graduation on my birthday, May 28th). Since then, we were inseperable. I went to UH to study Architecture. I graduated from there after a number of years. I've been working there ever since. Dora and I dated for 8 year...Expand for more
s, got married and after 8 years of marriage, had our beautiful daughter Savannah. We bought a house in Cypress, Texas a little over two years ago. Only a few people from school know that my brothers are musicians. They are the founding members of the band "Costa Azul" that became famous with Rigo Tovar. My brothers were the ones who gave Rigo his start and recorded the first and most well-known album with him, called Matamoros Querido. My brothers are still playing music and I have joined them in the band as lead singer. We do this mostly as a hobby, so we are not very busy playing a lot of gigs throughout the year. The band plays mostly spanish oldies and cumbias with a few english oldies in between. That's what keeps me busy. My wife stays busy decorating and planning Quinceaneras when she is not at her 9-5 job.
