Robert's Story
Life is exciting..There have been many things happening since I Ieft highschool. I went to college at Southern State at Springfield, S.D. I became a Ford auto technician for Ford at Vivian, S.D., then was an auto tech for GEM in St. Paul, Mn.. I then worked in Cincinnati, Ohio for Associated Placements as a career consultant in a skyscraper. Then I went to work for carrying U.S. mail in central S.D. Carpentry was my next calling- building pole sheds.. Then to the underground to mine the yellow stuff- Gold at Homestake mine- 5,400 -5,600 foot level. From there to Idaho to work in a silver mine in the foundry. Then back to Ohio to work for SOHIO as night manager. Then to Sears at Dayton, Ohio to work as an auto tech, Assistant Shop foreman, Assistant Maintanence manager, and then to Middletown, Ohio as a manager for Sears. Also in Dayton as an assistant manager for Cassano Enterpries. Then back to S.D. to work for Lyman County Highway department as a heavy equipment operator-motorgraders, loaders, gravel trucks. e highways and byways were calling me, so I became a long haul truck driver for 48 states and Canada. About 1,000,000 miles -no accidents and I lived ..... Then my wife became ill, so I had to come off the road... I became a locomotive engineer for Dakota Southern for 6 years. Also I became a Railroad contractor rebuilding railroad tracks. My first wife passed away in 1998. So I met my second wife through a mailorder bride catalogue.. We were married in the Philippines in1999. I have been to the Philippine Islands many times since then. 2 years ago we swam with 30 foot sharks in the South China Sea...Presently I work for Brule County as a building engineer..Two of my goals were to go to Costa Rica and to Europe, we have gone to both---Costa Rica, England, France, Scotland, and Wales. My next goals are to build and fly my own airplane and go to Bolivia, Peru, and Chile in South America.(not at the same time) .As they say ---the sky is the limit...My hobbies at the present time are making diamond willow canes and drawing cartoons. They have published my cartoons in trade newspapers...
