Robert's Story
Life
Upon graduation, I joined the U.S. Marine Corps and went to bootcamp in Parris Island, SC in January 1989. Upon graduation from bootcamp, I reported to Camp Pendleton, CA for school. After school, in August 1989, I was transfered to Yuma, AZ. While in Yuma, I participated in several deployments with VMA (Marine Attack Squadron)-214 and VMA-311 in the western pacific in places like Okinawa, Iwakuni, and Yokosoka, Japan; Darwin, Australia; Singapore; Philipine Islands; etc. In February 1995, I requested transfer to Knoxville, TN where I worked in the Military Entrance Processing Station until September 1998 when I requested transfer back to Yuma where I served as the Administration Chief for Headquarters Squadron until my transfer to Recruiting School in January 2001. Upon graduation from Recruiting School in February 2001, we moved to Victoria, Texas where I served as a Recruiter until May 2003, at which time I transfered to San Antonio, TX where I served as the Quality Assurance Chief/Assistant Operations Chief for Recruiting Station San Antonio. Marine Division, MCB Camp Pendleton, CA. Upon arrival to Camp Pendleton I deployed to Iraq where I joined 1st Battalion, 4th Marines (BLT 1/4) in An Najaf, Iraq. In February 2005 we redeployed to Camp Pendleton. In February 2006, I deployed with 1/4 as ground command element to the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard the USS Peleliu. Taking a cruise across the Pacific with stops along the way in Hawaii, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates, and our ultimate destination being Kuwait. We spent a couple months there and redeployed back to Camp Pendleton in August 2006. In September 2006 I was reassigned to Headquarters, 1st Marine Regiment where I served until my transfer to 8th Marine Corps District (MCD) Recruiting Headquarters in Fort Worth, TX in April 2007. I served as the 8th MCD Adminstrative Chief from April 2007 to May 2010 when I was transferred back to Yuma, AZ where I currently serve as the Marine Corps Air Station Administrative Chief. I am married to the beautiful Maricela Garcia of Sonora, Mexico and we have two daughters, Alexis and Cassandra, a cat, two dogs, two birds and several lizzards.
