Robert's Story
Life
I was born in Sioux City, Iowa in 1940. I attended Riverside Elementary, West Jr. High and Central High School. My family moved to Yankton, South Dakota in the summer of 1956 where I attended Yankton High School. In March of 1958 I enlisted in the Navy. Was in San Diego, California from March 1958 until December 1958. While in San Diego I attended Boot Camp and Radioman "A" School. In December 1958 I shipped out to Sasebo, Japan where I spent the next two years of my life. These two years offered me the oppourtunity to visit several far eastern countries. After my stay in the Military, I lived in California until December of 1974, at which time I was working for Disney and I transferred to Orlando, Florida. I left Disney in 1980. I am a Realtor. Military
I joined the Navy in March of 1958 and went to Boot Camp in San Diego. After Boot Camp, I attended Radioman"A" School at the Training Center. School was 6 months long. I graduated, I believe it was December 18, 1958. I reported aboard the USS Dixie, AD-14 and got underway shortly thereafter, headed to Yokosuka Japan. From there I worked my way to my duty station, which was COMSERVRON3 Sasebo, Japan. For the next 2 years I rotated every six months with the USS Ajax, Hector and Jason. I really enjoyed my time in the far east. Every six months after changing ships, we would head to Hong Kong for a little R & R. I remember the Jason as having the best chow of all three. I left Sasebo in 1961 and returned to the U.S...I miss those days sometimes..
