Biography
Robert Holmes is a native of Christiansburg, Virginia where he attented and graduated from public school; afterwhich, he attended Virginia State University majoring in psychology and minoring in sociology. He entered the United States Army in 1966 and served in the Vietnam conflict in 1967 through 1968. He was discharged in 1969 and then entered into private industry for several years before establishing his own business in 1977.
In 1973 he met his wife Kitty and they were married in 1979. At this time Apostle
re-committed his life to Christ and in 1982 he entered into ministry while still operating his transportation business.
As a part of his training for the office of pastor, that was to eventually come, he worked with the Morris Cerullo Ministry and was the liason and field supervisor for Go Tell It Evangelistic Ministry in Detroit, Michigan.
In 1987, along with his wife,he founded and pastors God's Word Christian Center. Over the last 22 plus years he has trained hundreds of disciples for the work of the ministry and many are now operating in atleast one of the five-fold ministry gifts.
Apostle Holmes' primary ministry is geared toward what is referred to as Boot Camp Trainig with emphasis on getting believers rooted and grounded in the foundational principles of the Word Of God.
Of his many gifts he is best know for his anointed silky voice which he allows God to freely use to usher worshippers into the presence of the Holies. He is the survivor of three surgeries to a cancerous vocal cord and is more determined now than ever to be an anointed instrument for God.
He has traveled extensively through the United Stated ministering as well as the country of India where he has taking part in winning more than 500 Hindu priest to Christ in addition to winning and baptizing several thousand over a 5,000 miles journey in that country. The husband of one wife; the father of a son and daughter five grandchildren and one adopted daughter he is devoted to family and a committed caretaker to his wife who has suffered many illnesses.
He is the reciepient of many civil and musical awards and official citations from the Mayor of the District of Columbia and the Governor of the State of Maryland.
He has degrees in both Bible Subjects and Theology, is certified in the Apostolic/Prophetic school of prophetic and apostolic ministry under Bishop Bill Hamon. He is an affiliate of the Apostolic Alliance under Bishop Sandra Hayden.
Known for his anointed melodic tenor voice he is a survivor of cancer of the vocal cord and has under gone four surgeries to remove the lesion with the most recent biopsy occuring in May of this year 2010. The biopsy proved to be benign. Apostle is determined, through his strong faith, that nothing will prevent him from accomplishing every thing that God has planned, purposed and destined for him.

Robert Holmes
Apostle Robert Holmes is a native Virginian. Founder and Pastor along with his wife Katherine (Kitty) of God's Word Christian Center located in Elkridge,Maryland.
He has been singing all of his life and is the winner of numerous first place awards through out his teens and early adulthood.
As a secular artist he has appeared as the opening act for numerous popular artist and groups such as the Temptations, Four Tops, Etta James, Ben E. King just to Name a few.. He is an original member of the group Special Delivery now know for their classisc I Destroyed Your Love.
To his many credits the one that stands out the most is that he has always put gospel and inspirational music ahead of all others.
He received Christ at the age of eleven and has endeavored to keep Christ as the center of the his focus.
Known for his melodious tenor voice, he is the survivor of three vocal cord surgeries within one year after having been diagnosed with throat cancer in 1999. In 2010 he had 2 more to remove a non cancerous lesion within two month of each other and most recently on, September 8th 2011, he had number six.
Of the many accomplishment of Apostle Holmes, he would rather be remember for his affectionate and compassionate ability to be a caretaker to many especially his wife (kitty) who has experienced many different illnesses and even death three times.
He is the father of a son and daughter and four grandchildren. He is also affectionately received by many as pop pop as they have adopted him as the father and grandfather that most of them have never known.".
