Bob's Story
My life has been quite a whirlwind. Upon graduating from High School and one year at the College of San Mateo, I moved to Santa Barbara and went to SBCC. Upon completion of my general education courses, I joined up with Trans World Airlines as an International Flight Attendant. I lived in St. Louis, Mo. for one year and traveled throughout the entire U.S.A.-from Miami to Seattle to Boston to San Diego, and everywhere in between. After having seen every place that TWA had flown in the U.S., I moved to New York City to fly internationally on 747s to Europe and Asia. I was fortunate to have met many world leaders, professional atheletes, rock and roll stars, other entertainers, and celebrities, not to mention the other flight attendants and pilots that I met and befriended. I was very fortunate to have visited cities like Paris, London, Madrid, Dublin, Cairo, Bombay, Munich, Rome, Brussels, Athens, and Amsterdam, to name only a few of my favorite locations. Due to the long flights, I only had to work about 15 days a month. On my days off, I had flight benefits which allowed me to travel to just about anyplace I wanted, in first class, for free. I spent much of this time in Greece, Spain, Mexico, The Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. It was a very memorial experience and I had a blast but it also opened my eyes to the world and also gave me a great appreciation of what it is to be an American and to live in this wonderful country of ours.
After four years of "living the life of Riley", I figured that it was time to settle down a little (at least in theory) and go back to school. I attended San Francisco State University while bartending in "The City" in the Marina District. I lived on the last block on Lombard St. (HMMM!, now that I think about it, I lived at the "end of the road" on the "crookedist street in the world") at the front gates of the Presidio for three years. I worked very hard putting myself through school, as well as finding some time for parting at nightclubs (probably a little to hard), until I received my Bachelor of Scien...Expand for more
ce Degree in International Business Administration with emphasis in Marketing. I was also the VP of the US/Soviet Bussiness Institute on campus which was very interesting as the Soviets were evolving into a capitalistic economy.
My first job out of college was with General Mototrs as a Customer Representative for GMAC. It was a pretty boring job conducting physical inventory audits at car dealerships but did help me start be build my resume and to gain experience working in a corporate environment.
In 1996 I moved to Klamath Falls, OR. I worked as a Sales Representative for Columbia Forest Products, the largest hardwood plywood manufacturer in the U.S.. I worked for CFP in Klamath Falls for four years and then I went to work for lumber distributors in both Hawaii and San Diego for two years. Missing the production and manufacturing aspect of the industry, I decided to move back to Klamath Falls to work as a Sales Representative for The Collins Companies, another wood industry company which makes particleboard, softwood lumber, harwood lumber, and hardboard siding. In 2005 I was promoted to a Manager and I was asked to move to West Virginia, where the company had acquired a hardwood lumber mill, and for me to be its Sales Manager. My family and I were there for three years. It was a great experience and a very pretty part of the country, but there is no place like the west coast of the U.S.. I was then hired by Roseburg Forest Products in Roseburg, OR.
I have three daughters, Clare, Emily, and Audrey, and a son Brendan. With the children's activities including; soccer, bsseball, and football. We often visit local beaches, mountains, and lakes and rivers, and often fish for troit, steelhead, and salmon. As we do still have family and friends in the SF Bay Area we visit there often.
We now all live in Eugene, OR and I work for Boise Cacade.
