Robert's Story
After graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in 1965, I attended Kearney State College from 1965 until my enlistment in the United States Air Force in 1967. I was stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base,Texas, England Air Force Base, Louisiana, Pleiku Air Base, Vietnam, Clark Air Base, Philippines, Tainan Air Station,Taiwan, Osan Air Base Korea, Bangkok, Thailand, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Yokota Air Base, Japan, Keflavik Naval Station, Iceland, Sondrestrom Air Base, Greenland, Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, Saudi Arabia during Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield, and Offutt Air Force Base (HQ SAC), Omaha, Nebraska, ...Expand for more
where I finally retired in August of 1992 as a Senior Master Sergeant after serving 26 years in the USAF. I was then employed by Boeing Aerospace as a Navy contractor in support of their E-6B aircraft mission at Offut AFB for 10 years until L-3 Vertex Aerospace assumed the contract. After expiration of the L-3 contract, the DRS & C3 Aviation Company assumed the new contract. I retired from DRS in September of 2013 after working for the Navy (SCW-1 Detachment) at Offutt Air Force Base for 15 years.
Upon my retirement, I enjoy vacationing, camping, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with my family and 8 wonderful grandchildren.
