Robert's Story

Life In 1988 I moved from Oak Forest to California and then spent the next five years moving around the country for my business. In 1993 I moved to Arizona where I still live. I married for the first time in 1996 and it had it's ups and downs. The upside is it forced me to grow-up, the downside was it did not workout. Overall my exwife and I are better off due to our time together. Since moving to Arizona my parents, sister and brother have also moved here. My parents live just a few blocks from me, close enough to keep an eye on them but far enough that they don't just knock on the door. My parents are now in their seventies (thank god they are healthy) and they are spending their golden years traveling around the world. My brother, now retired from the Army and working for a defense contractor, has spent two out of the last three years in Iraq. He just returned home and we hope and pray he doesn't have to go back. I remarried in 2005 to the most unique and vibrant woman I have ever met. She is in the process of teaching me how to enjoy life again. I like Arizona and it has been good to me but my wife hates it here so we are building a second home...Expand for more
in Santa Fe. Since I will have a home in Santa Fe I will be expanding my business into New Mexico and hopefully spliting my time between Arizona and New Mexico. Since I own several businesses in Arizona and California I have become a workaholic (I think I am making up for playing to hard when I was younger). At this time in my life I consider myself truly blessed, not just because I have a wonderful wife and successful businesses but also the people who work for me are the finest most caring people anyone could ever ask to be associated with. We are involved in a number of charities; MDA, United Blood Services and several local charities including a shelter for women. I now have two step children, both girls, and since I am not the most sensitive guy in the world it has had its' challenges. Apparently kids are different than adults and so I had to learn a new way of communicating (I haven't mastered it yet but I am working on it). Having been raised in a similar type of family this is not terribly foreign to me and I know with patience and time it will all get better. That brings us up to date and I look forward to hearing from anybody out there.
