Robert's Story
Life
I was a construction brat and moved around a lot as a child. I Spent each of my high school years in a different school in different states. then joined the Navy after H.S. Did a tour in Viet Nam as a medical advisor with MILPHAP N-7. Came Home and married Denise Durocher of Worcester, Ma. Stayed in Navy 27 yrs. as a biomedical/forensic photographer and had 3 sons, Garrick, Seth and Zachary. Retired in 1990 in Orange Park, Florida. Have been married for 37 years now and still in love with Denise. Garrick is married to Teresa Glisson and They have one son, William. Seth passed away when only and infant and Zach is married to Michelle Rosa. He is in the Army serving in Iraq on his second tour. I have my own woodcraft shop where I create custom gifts, build furniture and restore antiques. I have recently renewed my Photographic passions specializing in Nature, wildlife and historic structures. Denise & I share our home with 2 dogs,Boomer & Sarah, a cat, Kiska, a cockatiel, Marty and a whole menagerie of migratory visitors to our back yard sanctuary, including mammals, birds and reptiles. School
I was a construction brat and moved around a great deal. Each or my high school years was spent in a different school, in different school systems in different states. BUMMER!! my most memorable and fun years were my junior and 1st half of the senior year when in Portsmouth, N.H. and then having to Move for the last half of my senior year to Auburn, N. Y. I was obviously not ready for college so I Joined the Navy and later, got my degree from Roger Williams University while in the Navy.
College

sity in R.I. while in the Navy, stationed at the Naval Hospital in Newport in 9-96 but received orders to the USS Nimitz shortly after enrollment so chose to enroll in the open division, independent study program and received my B.S. degree in 12-78. Since I was not on campus, I had no opportunity to belong to a fraternity or get to know any of my fellow students. I never even actually met any of my professors since we were at sea so much tht all I could do is work through my advisor, Dr. John Stout, a man Who made great efforts on my behalf, to keep me on track, getting me registered for my courses, getting the course matrials, etc. I owe Dr. Stout a greate deal of thanks, respect and admiration.
Military
I entered the Navy in Jan. '63 and became a Hospital Corpman with a Biomedical/Forensic Photography specialty. My 1st assignment was at the Nav. hosp. Bethesda, Md. then went to Norfolk, Va for duty on USS Elokomin AO55. After that I was with MILPHAP N-7 as a medical advisor to the Vietnamese Public Health Service. When I returned to the U.S., I was on staff at the Naval Disciplinary Command, Portsmouth, N.H. The Back to Bethesda for Photo training. Afterthat, it was Newport, R.I., San Diego,Ca. and finally, Jacksonville, Fl. where I was forced to retire aftr 27 Yr.s due to medical problems in 1990. Along the way, I married Denise Durocher of Worcester, Ma. and we had three sons, Garrick, who is Now Married, Seth, who died after only 4 months and Zachary, who now serves in the U.S. Army at. Ft. Campbell, Ky. and is married and about to give us our first grand daughter. I am Semi-retired but have my own Photography business, specializing in nature and wildlife in which I provide contract work to doctoral candidates and sell some of my work as photo art.
