Life
Married, Kristine Nelson, 3 children - Paul, Kelli, Dana - work as a LT/Paramedic with South Shore Fire Dept. - (renamed after the consolidation). Have custody of our grandson, James, and we are raising him.
Have a great daughter-in-law as of Aug 1, 2009. They are living in Norfolk, VA were they bought a house.
Got a new knee in December to replace the one that got injuried at work. Getting use to the new feeling or should I say lack of. They say that I should be able to return to work, Time will tell.
Back to work after 14 months being off effective Aug 1, 2010. Doc gave me no restriction!
Back for more surgery Dec. 30, 2010 to fix and remove some stuff.
Back to work April 2011.
Retired/Disability July 19th, 2012, finally figured it out that an artificial knee and firefighting just don't work even after trying to make it work.

Gone through allergy testing and bone scan to see if the problem is there.
Well Jan. 3, 2015 surgery number 4 was done. Dr. couldn't believe how loose my knee was, took the old one out, put a new one in and tightened up the ligament so I was told.
2 1/2 weeks after surgery, tore the Quad Tendon. Need more surgery. Feb 3rd it was repaired. 9 days later back to the hospital with a fever of 105.8F. Got into my blood givingme MRSA and double pneumonia. Week in ICU and a week on the floor. 6 weeks IV antibiotic at home and 6 months of oral antibiotics. Will know in September if its gone or more surgery.
Not gone! Emergency surgery to remove the knee, clean it up and put a anyibiotic spacer in. On antibiotics again!
November 2014 surgery number 8, remove spacer and install another knee, back on antibiitics until May 2015 and hopefully no more infection.
April 2015 surgery on my ankle because I broke off the tarsal the way I was walking.
