Robert's Story
Life
I've been working for the Cleveland Cliffs Mining Co. since high school. I am married /w/ children. We have three lovable kids, all in a close age group.They get along together well, and are the joy of my life. One by one they are sliding out to seek their own lives, and I will probably take my retirement in the near future. I am currently operating one of the largest front end loaders made for mining. I load blasted (earth/rock/ore) into 260 ton dump trucks. C.M.M.C. is now, the largest producer of iron pellets in the Northern Hemisphere, since their acquisition of the mining operations in Minnesota. They are an state of the art operation, with the most recent updates in mining technology. I like what I do, and the new machines and technology make the job more interesting. Workplace
I've been working for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Mining Co. since high school. C.C.I. has operated/managed the only iron mining operations in MI for decades. Recently, C.M.M.C,(now) bought all the rights to the Michigan and Minnesota mining operations and are now the largest Iron ore producer in the Northern Hemisphere. I've held a variety of jobs in my duration there, but for the most part I've worked in the open pit operations. I currently operate one of the largest front end loaders made in the world, loading blasted rock/ore into huge trucks. The job is interesting, and somewhat rewarding. I was eligible for retirement in 2004, but I've decided to stay working a while. I like what I do. The new technology and innovations in the equipment makes work a little easier, and interesting.
