Robert's Story
Graduated from High School in 1959. Enlisted in the
Navy july of same year. My MOS in the navy was
Radio. At the end of my active duty, I was a
RM2. After Navy Service schools , I was stationed on
the USS Sperry. For about the last 6 months of
active duty, I transferred to JT8 Johnston island;
I was put on the USNS Harris County LST822.
They blew off 2 nukes in my vicinity. The best
part of being in this Joint Task Force was the
fishing. We caught Tuna , Wahoo, Trevale .
AFter I left active , I attended Sacramento City
College. Got a degree ...Expand for more
in Math and Science.
I went to work at Cal/Trans as a Engineering
aid doing surveying. After 5 years , transferred
to the State of California Lands Commisson
working on riparian boundaries. While here I
obstained my Professional Land Surveyors
License. I married in 68 we have 5 children.
Kay passed away in 1987. I now have 11
beautiful grandchildren and 1 great grandaughter.
I am now retired. I have a Toyota tacoma which I haveput around 290000 miles seeing the USA.
Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Glacier National Park,
Little Big Horn and more.
