Robert's Story
Life
After graduation I spent 4 years in the Navy and 8 years in California in college and working. Attended Cornell for my MBA (1974-76) and then 20 years in New York City. Moved to Redding, CT in 1996.
Married Shelley in 2000 and assumed co-management of two wonderful stepsons, Alex, born in 1988, and Ben, born in 1991.
Since 1988 I have worked for various hedge funds as a fund raiser. I presently work for a firm in New York City. Shelley is a Spanish teacher in Weston, CT. Alex finished his sophomore year at our local junior college in May 2010 and did really well. He is a math major. In June 2010 Alex was accepted as a junior year transfer by Columbia University. We are so excited for him. It is now August 2010 and we have completed getting Alex settled into an apartment in NYC; such fun. Almost wish it were me instead of Alex. Ben will be a sophomore at Colby College in Maine beginning September 2010 and played football his freshman year. h hips to fix a congenital problem--not exactly a fun break but the repair is necessary. He missed spring lacrosse but is now (August 2010) back at full speed for both sports for his sophomore year.
I stay reasonably active fly fishing (its tough out there in the water), biking, skiing, golfing (kinda like fly fishing) and insufficient time at the gym and track. I like to read history, politics and economics but never seem to get much past the newspapers and magazines that clutter my life
.
All in all, life has been very good to me. Most of my problems have been self-inflicted and, with good medical attention, recoverable. My marriage demanded I stay in-touch with children more appropriately the age of what could have been my grandchildren--that has helped keep me "young at heart."
I have tried over the years to stay in-touch with old friends but many of you I have lost track of. I would love to hear from you if you would like to catch up.
Best wishes to all of you--Conard really was some of the very best years of my life!
