Robert Meyers:

CLASS OF 1967
Staatsburg, NY

Robert's Story

Time flies. A couple of weeks ago it dawned on me that its been 50 years since the class of 67 graduated. That's a lot of water under the bridge since then for all of us - I hope all of it good. I'm sure there are many stories to tell and I'd be interested to hear what they are. Anderson people are so unique. My story, in a nutshell, is that after a brief college career I worked as a musician (drummer) in 6 or 7 bands throughout the 70s. Definitely a fun life style - maybe a little reckless. I played with some pretty creative musicians, and I still play occasionally with some of them. I built a contracting company in the 80s and then sold it. Strictly commercial. No joy. ...Expand for more
Means to an end. Then, in the 90s I started a used/rare/out-of-print bookstore. Met lots of interesting characters (authors and collectors) thru that. An intellectual endeavor. A chain store bought me out in 2003. I miss it a little. I still read a couple of books a month. I got into the commercial real estate business after that and am now mostly retired. In addition to music I spend my time traveling and playing poker and tennis. I'm also finishing a screenplay that may have some potential. I imagine after 50 years we're spread all around the country. Don't know if a reunion is possible, but maybe. Its heartening to see from posted pictures that some people don't age.
