You're all probably wondering what happened to that elusive and impetuous Big 'B' after we all fled Vermilion in'79. Well, I moved to Edmonton and took the Industrial Instrumentation program for two years and got out in the recession of '81 like many of us did. Unable to find work in the patch, I snagged a job in aviation as an avionics/instrument tech on the Edmonton field with a small shop, overhauling and installing aircraft instruments. I spent almost 20 years in avionics, the second half based in Whitecourt, developing aerial surveillance systems with a helicopter outfit, flying, driving or walking all over Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan chasing those whirly birds, servicing them and our clients. While still in Edmonton, I took up with a lady, Jeanne Macmillan, married her, and between us we created two awesome kids. Sheena, almost 20, is currently in Grant MacEwan, Edmonton in year 2 of a 4 year Professional Writing program. She finished top 3 in her class in high school and was honoured with the role of Class Valedictorian. Must be some grampa in her, having good roots, Byron and Angus.
