Robert's Story
Life
I'm living in Dresden, where I've mostly been through the years, except for 3 years in grad school at LSU and at Ohio University. Tommy Moore still gets me into WAY too much trouble, but we remain best pals.
Work-wise, after being a journalist for 15 years, I went to grad school and got my Ph.D. in Mass Communication with a speciality in Journalism. I'm now in my 15th year on the faculty at UT Martin in the Communications Dept. This is my seventh year as chairman of the department.
After being one of the more eligible bachelors in these parts until almost 29, I married a young lady from Houma, La., and we've been married for just over 23 ...Expand for more
years. We have one child, a son, Ryan, who is a freshman at Lambuth University in Jackson. He's also the starting kicker for the football team.
When not at work or chasing our son around the country at football games, we remain heavily involved in music. I'm the minister of music at First Baptist in Gleason, where I've been for 10 years. My wife, Rachel, is the pianist.
Tommy, Ricky Finney, Marshall Anderson and I are still singing in the same quartet we began in high school during my soph year. We're up to almost 37 years now.
Tommy and I also sing in two touring choruses, The David Johnson Chorus, and the Tennessee Baptist Men's Chorale.
