Robert's Story

I married in 81 (Ann), and am the father of three (Beth, Robert, and Julie). I am also a proud grandfather of four beautiful girls (Brooklyn, Hannah, Alexis, and Mackenzie) and one handsome boy (Kieran). I didn't attend Marshall like the rest of you as I thought Max Hayes and electronics were a better fit. After graduating, job experiences and dating gave me the push to attend college. I knew that while others were off to the races, this guy needed more time to get his footing, After stumbling and perhaps a lack of communication on my part, I met someone that was college bound that summer we had graduated. This started me to weigh college and the Marines that my buddies had signed up for. A talk with dad regarding the Marines ("So you want to follow my steps?"), left me to realize that I loved Physics, Electrical Engineering, and math (George Hancy would never believe that!). Two degrees and many years, but I have given talks and spent my life in science and engineering positions. I thought about band while at my kids school concerts. You see th...Expand for more
e kids looking at each other while on stage and you smile. Mr Wentzel had to have had the worst breath but it was the seventh grade that was a turning point for me. All of my kids were in the Strongsville marching mustangs band. We would play Chicago music together and I took them to a couple of their concerts. Reunions with neighbors from that area were at Chambers and sad to say not just for parents. Several of us are gone from that class, so thanks to all for some good memories. I regret not attending Marshall in some ways and was told on a date that they were calling my name for quite a while in study hall. I am on LinkedIn, and currently work as an Applications Engineer. I recall Jim Tighe complaining about Terry Hester slamming him into the lockers at Westrop for supposedly stepping on his shoe. I was on my way after Homeroom toward Jim's class and heard a loud bang. Terry was older than the rest of us and I believe he was in an accident on I-71. I hope it's been a good journey for everybody and look forward to reading what others have done.
