Life While attending Soledad School from 1969-72 I was known to all as Monte. My family moved from East LA to Hacienda Heights in 1972 where I attended Los Altos HS. In high school I was known as Smokey, sang in men's and acapella choir, ran track and field, and cross country. I truly enjoyed my four years of high school. I enlisted in the Air Force on my 17th birthday in October 1975 of my Senior year. I was sworn in on December 27, 1975 and went on active duty three days after graduation, June 18 1976. I married Maria (Lupe) Lopez, my high school sweetheart in 1977 and we just celebrated our 28th in May. More importantly, 31 years of continued dating. I spent 21 dedicated years serving my country and experienced many great moments and events that I can never forget. My family loved all the travel to Hawaii, South Korea, Alaska, Okinawa, and Japan. I finally retired in September of 1997 in New Mexico and relocated to Glendale, AZ in 1999. We have 4 daughters, ages 27, 22, 17, 12 and a 5 year old granddaughter named Santana, our joy.
