Robert's Story
After Edison, I left Miami for Florida State University by way of one year at University of Miami. In 1964, I received my bachelor's degree in biology teaching from FSU, and got married that summer. My wife and I moved to Atlanta. She taught kindergarten and I taught biology in the Atlanta Public Schools from 64-66. Then to University of Georgia for a master's degree in botany. I enjoyed being a student so much, i enrolled in a PhD program at FSU in science education. Had my first child and...Expand for more
decided the fun of being a student for life had ended.
Worked as a science supervisor in an Indiana school district from 71-75, and had my second daughter. In 1975, went to Purdue University Calumet in Hammond IN as a professor of science education. Got my PhD from FSU in 1977 (my older daughter still remembers how tense it was when i was working on my thesis) and have been at Purdue ever since.
Since 1999, I have been Dean of the School of Education at Purdue University Calumet.
