Bob's Story
Life for me started in the spring of 1940 in Spencer, Ok. For the first 13 years of my life I seldom left the city limits of Spencer and when I did it was with one or both parents, usually on the weekend to go to Freeman Langstons in downtown OKC. Spencer had only a grade school so when it came time for the 9th grade it was off to Webster Jr Hi in OKC. At that time Webster was on 12th street near the University Hospital. Needless to say, I was overwhelmed at Webster. The whole town of Spencer had about 250 people and Webster had close to 600. What a change! The 10th grade was spent at North East High School at 30th and Kelley and it had more students than Webster. The only people I knew at all were the kids who rode the bus from Spencer to school or a few that I had classes with. I was not very outgoing as you can see. After school was out in the spring of 1956, some of my grade school buddies who had gone to Jones High School talked me in to transfering to Jones for my last two years. Good choice for me. In the summer of 1956 I saw a little girl at the Swirly Top Drive In (Jones) who absolutely took my complete attention. Like most kids back then I tried to find out who she was by asking every body I knew but was to scared to go and ask her. School started in middle August and I kep...Expand for more
t looking for "that girl". Finally I actually saw her and got up the nerve to speak to her. It worked out just fine because we are still together. After school I tried college one year but that did not work out so I became a carpenter. In 1962 I went to work for AT&T and retired from ther in 1999 after 37 years on the job. Two sons were a high light for me and 5 grand daughters were the most I could ever ask for. The girls can spin me like a top and I don't mind at all. I enjoy playing golf, and have even gone to Scotland a couple of times to play "The Old Course" at St. Andrews. I also enjoy having dinner with family and or friends. In addition to my family the single greatest event in my life came at the age of 40. God revealed very clearly to me what the finished work of Christ was when HE went to the cross. Not only did HE pay for my sins but HE did it as a free gift.
Just so no one gets the wrong idea, I am politicaly conservative, I try to be a follower of Jesus, I love the USA and pray for us as a Nation, I believe our Military is the greatest, and I don't have much confidence in Washington DC.
I reserve the right to edit this from time to time. Since I wrote this profile I have been blessed with3 great grand daughters and 1 great grand son is on the way. Thank you Jesus!!
