Born in Chico, CA the son of a Coal Miner's Daughter. Raised a spoiled poor boy, mom gave me everything she could but welfare don't go far... My folks had sawmills when they arrived in CA from OH in '47. They kept burning down due to poor regulation of the burners. Family moved to Ruth, CA (coastal range mtns between Eureka/Redding)in '53 and built more sawmills to burn down! Dad died of a heart attack in '56 which sent mom into a tailspin which lasted the rest of her life (she died in '06). I was very much a part of the problem. Tough life for a spoiled poor boy who loved life in the self gratifying manner he learned from mom. NO, I am NOT blaming her for a sorry young life, that's just the way it was.
