Robert's Story
Graduated in ¿62 by the skin of my teeth. 4 years in the Navy, honorable discharge by the skin of my teeth. Graduated University of PA Hospital Respiratory Therapy School by the skin of my teeth. Head of the Department at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital for about 2 years before moving with my wife to north central PA where I set up a department at a rural hospital. Went to work for the American Lung Association taking care of respiratory patients in their homes and covered 13 counties. Retired in 1988 to manage and maintain several rental properties that we own. We adopted 3 lovely children after some years as foster parents. I am a proud grandfather of 9 kids, all of whom live too far away in Canada. We try to get there every other year and the other year, someone comes down here. ears in Churchill, Manitoba. That was the trip of a lifetime.
Wanted to get out of the urban area to where I could go hunting and fishing in my backyard which is what we did. Bought an old house (circa 1860s, bricks fired on property by original owner) and is the local history books as one of the first land owners in the area. 50 by 100 barn built with virgin timber, beams hand-hewn 16¿x16¿, 80 feet long. 140 acres, mostly wooded with deer, elk and turkey in back yard. Furnished home with antiques and opened a part time antique/good junk shop in the barn as a hobby. Feel like Jed Clampett on the Beverly Hillbillies since Penn State developed a way to get natural gas out of the Marcellus shale under the surface.
Still managing and collect rents on 11 properties and waiting for gas company to drill for the gas and pay royalties. .
