Rob's Story
Life
In January 1985 I joined the Navy and have been traveling the world ever since.
I retired Jan 2011 after completing 26 years. My last tour was in Lemoore, CA, where I was a Legal Officer for a Fighter Jet training command. Prior to that, I was in charge of a Navy recruiting office in Longview (I put a few kids from Centralia 80's graduates). Prior to this I lived in San Diego where I had been a Career Counselor for 3,000 sailors on an Aircraft Carrier. Before that I was a Meteorology and Flight School Instructor for military pilots in Corpus Christi Texas. The command prior I was a navigator for an assault command in Coronado, CA. Needless to say, my career path was very diverse.
I enjoyed my career in the Navy and ended it as a Senior Chief Petty Officer (which was an awesome milestone to achieve). It was great to help people launch their careers, or just break the cycle of going nowhere. It's a little pay forward, as I was in those crossroads some 30+ years ago.
My wife's name is Leesha and we have an 17 year old daughter (Olivia) and an 14 year old daughter(Sarah). My oldest daughter (Brittany 26yrs) is a Charge Nurse a...Expand for more
nd my son Logan (20) is an E-5 in the Navy, having only been in just over two years.
I've been blessed with an awarding and fulfilling life. I missed you all at the 20th(if there was one), as I was in Australia. Perhaps I'll see you at the next one. I now work for the State and VA assisting homeless Veterans and their families to get back on track with their lives. God Bless, Rob
School
Looking back, I wish I had been more assertive and would have had a stronger level of self confidence. It's easy to analyze and pick your childhood apart if the memories are clouded with events that should not have been. With that said, those events, have made me a much stronger person as an adult, as a father, and moreover, as a husband. I've many fond memories of the school years. Growing up Centralia was a pretty cool place. Then again, it's the only place I have to judge by.
College
Being a careerist in the Navy I've attended many colleges & Universities throughout the country. Not being able to locate in any one place for more than a few years made it difficult to complete my education in a timely manner, but perseverence paid off.
