Robert's Story
Since 1991, Marcia and I have made our home in Cedarburg, a historic little town just north of Milwaukee, WI.
Today, I'm having a ball being self-employed after 30+ years of working for others. In that career, I worked in broadcasting, ad agencies and corporate marketing -- traveling widely, learning an incredible amount, and meeting wonderful people.
But as the years crept by, I went from "making" and creating, to managing and directing. A normal career path, but something that eventually left me unfulfilled.
So in 2004, at age 53, I made a longed-for leap to independence. My objectives were four-fold: Simplify your life, control your own destiny, work out of the house, and earn a living doing what you love. Incredibly, that's exactly what I've manifested.
Today, I have great fun as a voice and on-camera talent in commercials, industrials videos and multimedia. And with my wife Marcia, I'm an entrepreneur! Working together as Creative Spark, a marketing communications services company, we write and produce content for videos, print, commercials, multimedia and the web. As to the "the big jump," I highly recommend it! (Apparently it's never too late). Sure, it was a long-postponed -- even-feared -- event. But by building on everything I've learned, I leaped into what I consider the best years of my life.
Today, both of us love what we do and -- with our kids grown and gone -- are having a blast being together every day. (Our favorite quote is "It's never too late to be what you might have been." George Elliot)
As for the kids ... our daughter is a 2004 graduate of the University of Minnesota who served in AmeriCorps. Today she lives and works in Portland, Oregon. Our son is a 2009 graduate of Chicago's Columbia College. He is in LA breaking into the movie business.
We're great believers in the Law of Attraction, and we thank God that, simultaneously, all four Smiths are enjoying new, wonderful, life changing experiences.
Give us a shout if you're ever in our area (Chicago / Milwaukee), or if just like to correspond by email.
