College
Completed BA Honours Degree in Geography with specialization in climatology at the University of Windsor in 1971. Completed MSc in Geography with specialization in climatology/micometeorology at McMaster University in 1972. Completed PhD in Geography with specialization in climatology/micrometeorology at McMaster University in 1975.
Workplace
I retired from the Public Service of Canada at the end of October, 2006 with 31 years of service in 3 Federal Departments - Environment Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and Natural Resources Canada. I am currently, working part time at a Winestore installing wine cellars. For the last year and a bit of my public service career I was the acting Director for the Forest Science Division, Canadian Forest Service (CFS) a sector of Natural Resources Canada. ining the CFS I was with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for 14 years in a variety of research, policy and management positions. My main area of expertise is in climatology and the impact of climate change on forest and agricultural systems. Prior to this I spent 2 and a bit years as a post-doc research scientist with the Meteorological Services of Canada (Environment Canada).
I have been married for 37 years to the same wonderful lady and have two children. My wife was and elementary school teacher and retired in June 2010. Both children have graduated from university - my son with a degree in environmental/chemical engineering degree from Waterloo and my daughter a degree in radiation technology from Michener College-University of Toronto. My son is currently working at the Atomic Energy of Canada facility in Chalk River as a process engineer. My daughter is working at the hospital in Winchester.
