Robert's Story
Life
Hello to Cathedral High Classmates... many wonderful memories!
I was there for just my freshman and sophomore years, after which my father retired from the Army, and we moved to the Washington DC Maryland suburbs. I finish high school at Gonzaga Prep and attended Catholic Univ where I received a EE degree. I met my wife, Sandra, at 18y/o and proposed on our second date. We married three years later, had a girl and a boy, and recently celebrated 44 years together (47 including dating). After finishing an ROTC committment in the Air Force, I joined Hughes Aircraft as a Field Service and Support engineer. We spent three years on the high plains of Montana with trips back to LA for radar equipment training. Along the way, I became interested in psychology (long story). In 1968 I transfered out of FS&S to an in-house job at Hughes so that we could stay in LA. Both Sandra and I attended psychology courses at UCLA. In 1970 I was accepted into graduate school in clinical psychology at Syracuse Univ in Syraucse, NY. Sandra earned a BS in psych and a BA in art history. I graduated with a PhD in 1975 and started working at a local psychiatric hospital. In 1980 I started a private practice and have been doing that for the last 25 years. From 1978 to 1998 I was involved in bicycle racing, promoting and officialing. I started back into amatuer radio in 1990, I'm very active in that hobby. I am one of the cofounders of the Zen Center of Syracuse in 1972. I was ordained a lay Buddhist m...Expand for more
onk in 1985. That said, I maintain close ties to the RC church here; I do all their psych testing for semenarians and decons, advice the Bishop from time to time, and have seen many priests and nuns over the years in my practice. Otherwise, my practice is mainly individual psychotherapy with a sub-speciality in behavioral medicine using hypnosis.
I remember Stunt Night with so many smiles. Skiing with Chuck Munier and Dan Ruskowsky (sic). I remember John Lynch, Barbara Stoner, Mary Parks and Jodi Sinclair. Others on the list tweek my memory, but no "pictures." So sorry. I'd really enjoy hearing from anyone who just might remember me. Thanks for the memories.

It's now 2021! Time does fly. Still in Syracuse, NY. Still married to Sandra - 60yrs this coming June. I retired in Dec 2019 from my clinical psychology practice and have kept busy in most of the various activities mentioned above. Bike racing has dropped out after two bad crashes that, while not life threatening, did bang me up pretty badly. Ham radio is the big hobby now with home computer management a close second (labor saving devices...?). Sandra has some chronic medical conditions that while not life threatening do require my presence and assistance ... happy to love her in that fashion. The two kids, Tracey and Alan are happy and well. They live close by, and we are all pretty tight. At 81y/o I'm focused on getting my affairs in order and giving away as many things as possible. Stay tuned...
