Robert's Story
Life
Well, first, a big hello to all. Holy cow, I cannot believe it's been 25 years since we graduated! That makes most of you OLD! Not me, though. I'm perpetually 29 (although my wife would argue 12 is closer). I shall now attempt the impossible task of bringing all of you up to speed at Mach 2. Graduated (barely), moved to Southern FL. Stayed stoned and drunk for 2 years. Chased girls. Spent all my money. Moved home. Got stoned and drunk. Chased girls. Got DUI. Attempted to go to college. Did more of same. Joined Navy and started to get my s#@! together. Became a Navy SEAL. Fought in the first Gulf War and Panama. Caught girl. Got married. Had a baby. Had another baby. Had another baby. Had another baby. How was this happening? Realized the Navy was causing this and got out. Specialized in working for companies that would soon file for bankruptcy and stiff me for large amounts of cash. Moved all over God's creation. Got sick of all that and went to work for an un-named gov't. agency and now trot around the globe (almost certainly to places where they really don't like me) and try to win the hearts and minds of the locals by shooting at them. Admittedly, it's an odd strategy. I've been married for 20 years now and don't know if I owe that to being gone so much or her just being really dumb. Actually, she's a wonderful woman who I met in college. A tremendous blessing in my life, as are my kids. My oldest girl, Ryan, is now 20 and has been busy seeing the world for the last two years. She is currently in Israel, where she is having the time of her life. Her brother, Levi, is 18, tall, handsome, smart and athletic. The apple...Expand for more
doesn't fall far from the tree, does it? Some of you are saying, "I don't remember that Robert was tall?". Rachel is 12 and will be a 7th grader this fall. She's active in Student Council, sharp as a tack, fast as a cheetah and already seems more like she's 20 when you talk to her. And then there's Mallory, who we all swear was switched at birth. Like her siblings, she's smart and athletic and will be stunningly attractive when she is a little older. She loves animals and volunteers at the local SPCA shelter almost daily. She hopes one day to have her own show on Animal Planet, "The Mallory Swanson Experience"! Currently, we are living large in North MO with lots of bling and trying our best to enjoy everyday we have and be thankful for all our blessings. I am currently overseas and spend about 9 months/year gone. But, I sure would like to hear from any of my former classmates. Drop by if you're in the area. Bring body armor. Ciao.
School
I most definitely was crazy about Glenda Smith, as were a number of the guys. And then there was Valerie Gladden. That girl was built like a... well, you know. BTW, does anyone have her number? Bob Curtis, the math teacher, was absolutely the teacher who made the biggest impact on me. I got paddled more times by that guy. Seriously, his support and encouragement were key. I still talk to him occasionally. In case nobody noticed, school was not the most important thing on my agenda. I looked forward to recess, lunch and the last bell. The best part about school was the friendships I had, even though I've fallen out of touch with most of those folks.
College
Yuck. Not exactly money well spent.
