Robert's Story
First - I changed my last name back to my birth name "Duncan" after spending time with my "real" Dad following my C.H.S. graduation - I am actually a "Jr."
Life has been good so far, with many personal goals achieved. I have wonderful experiences flying my own aircraft across USA, AK, CA, MX, and other WWII aircraft at airshows, live with my aircraft in attached hangar and runway, scuba dived in Caribbean, Philippines and Fiji, climbed 14'ers in Colorado, lots of various volunteer hours spent, moderately successful in business, now retired, and happily married since 1990.
I have 2 grown daughters, 2 grandchildren. Worked at Honeywell, IBM, Motorola, StorageTek, & then my own businesses, consulting in energy conservation, computers hardware and software engineering, and handling "herds of nerds". I recently retired from my last (?) business where I developed over 250 websites and Internet marketing consulting from my Western Colorado airpark home - my garage is also my aircraft hangar - and most websites are aviation-related. I was inducted into the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame in 2010 in recognition for my decades of volunteer efforts within so many organizations including the Colorado Pilots Association, the Colorado...Expand for more
Wing of the Civil Air Patrol (USAF Aux), founding the Mile High Wing of the Commemorative Air Force, and holding multiple offices of the Rocky Mountain Wing CAF, I am FAA certified as flight instructor and as aircraft/powerplant mechanic.
For just the pleasure and freedom it provides, I became a private pilot in 1974, w/ commercial, flight instructor, and FAA certified mechanic ratings. In 1995, I bought and self-restored a 1967 Cessna 185 bush-pilot airplane for just "plane" camping and "fly" fishing all over US, AK, CA and Mexico. As a Commemorative Air Force (CAF) volunteer for over 30 years, I have flown some of their WWII aircraft at airshows across the western states, and most recently a Grumman TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber as outlined at the Rocky Mountain Wing CAF website.
My current project is developing turbo charged gyrocopter for just plain fun flying. We tow it behind our RV as "gyro gypsies" when exploring the USA. It can not hover, but it can take off in a couple hundred feet, and land in ten feet.
Other joys include hiking, camping, fishing, karate, shooting, and scuba diving. I am loving life and my lovely wife (now also a private pilot).
Bottom line, I have worked hard, and life has been really good
