Robert's Story
Left Homer 1953 to farm with half brother just north of Schneider Indiana and attended Lowell Indiana my senior year and worked on farm. School was a little larger than Homer high.
Graduated in 1955. Worked on farm until going into Army in late 1955. Fort Lnderwood for basic and Aberdean Proving Ground for short time.
Shipped to Germany for two and a half years to the 86fh Ordinance detachment. About 20 or so men attached to the 7th Army. Job to maintain ordinance for Army in Manheim Germany.
Traveled Italy 15 days top to bottom. People very friendly, compared to 5 days in France and it's people.

Drank German good beer.

Came back to states, to the farm for a couple of years. Could not see any life there. Went through employment agency for unit record, that was learnd in Army.
Job at Edward Valve in East Chicogo for about 4 years. Hired by G.W. Berkheimer as manager of a unit record job that they were just getting into. Helped grow into computer field. Retired after about 35 years.
Worked with Ford dealer in Lowell Ind. With wife I married in 1961. We dealer traded for adout 15 years.
Lived in Lowell, Crown Point, Crete, Lowell, and had present home built in Roselawn In. For past 22 years.
Belong to Zion Luthern Church in Crete I'm. ABOUT 40 MILES ONE WAY. Try to attend every Sunday. God bless.
