Robert's Story

Life Back in late 2004 I reconnected with the love of my life through Classmates. We were first married when I was 19 and things didn't work out due to our youth and other factors (her mother). We are now back together after 30 years and remarried in July 2007. We currently reside in Mascotte, Fl. I have a Son 43 and a Grandson 25. My wife Mary, has a son 37, and a daughter 34. I left Walt Disney World as an attractions mechanic in engineering servicesin 2006 after almost 26 years and went to work for the City of Mascotte as the Deputy Director for Public Services and am also a former Fire Fighter/EMT with Mascotte Fire-Rescue after 11 years as a reserve leaving in 2009. After leaving Disney and working for the City of Mascotte for over two years, I went to Universal Studios for a year and did not care for the environment. I returned to Disney at the Hollywood Studios in August of 2009. In March of 2022 Disney Cast Members were informed in a meeting by management, that the company was now "Inclusive". Sadley, what this meant was that the Walt Disney Company would be embracing "diversity" and would no longer hold their cast members to the high standards of appearance, conduct and quality that they were always known for! Within weeks we began seeing "males" with painted nails, earrings, radical hair styles, eye make up,...Expand for more
unkept facial hair and even "males" wearing "female" work costumes. We were also informed not to say or do anything to make them feel "uncomfortable". REALLY!!! what about the way us that are still "normal" feel? I guess that did not matter. At that point, my retirement could not come soon enough as I am not one to bite my tongue for very long! As of April 8, 2022 (my late dad's birthday) I have retired from Walt Disney World. Mary and I plan to travel some and I will be working at home on honey-do's, hobbies and projects. I remember my dad saying that after he retired he became so busy that he did not know how he had time to work when he did! Yes, he was right. I am busier now than when I was working! Where does the time go? I would love to hear from former classmates, friends and people from my past. I regret that I wasn't able to graduate with my class at DSRHS. My parents wanted to move to Florida because they were tired of snow. We moved after the school year in 1972. It's not easy when your almost 16 and your whole world changes and suddenly you're attending a new school and don't know anyone around you anymore! On the upside, I wasn't popular or well thought of at school. I was someone who whatever I did when trying to be cool, would always backfire on me with an opposite effect! So, moving away gave me a reset!
