Roberta's Story
Life
My parents & I moved from Hollywood, Calif to Florida in 1952. After graduating from high school in Florida in '56 I went to the Univ of Fla(where I met some really great people that I will
never forget)I moved back to Calif in '62 got married in L.A. in '67.
I was widowed in 1975 moved to Las Vegas in 1991. I have two children, my son lives in California and my daughter lives in Miami and I have 5 grandchildren.
My hobby is singing, I have been singing all my life. I joined Sweet Adelines, a barbershop singing organization in 1959 but dropped out when I got married. While living in Las Vegas I belonged to the Sweet Adelines Chapter there. Our chorus placed 8th in the world at the Int'l Competition in Detroit in Oct 2005.
In the summer of 2004 I re-connected with one of those great people I met at the U of F and we were married in Las Vegas on Sept 24, 2005. I have now retired to Florida with my new husband, Jake. We are very happy. I now belong to t...Expand for more
he Goldcoast Chorus in Miami and also belong to the South Florida Jubilee chorus in Ft. Lauderdale. Would love to hear from anyone that remembers me.
School
Came to Winter Park from Hollywood, Calif and didn't know anyone. Was very, very shy but loved to sing and perform. Didn't date much, went to the Senior Prom by myself. Felt like an "outsider" and didn't have a lot of friends.
Wanted to be part of the "in crowd"
What was your impression of me? I would really like to know.
College
College was a great experience for me. Being an only child it was good to be with other girls in the dorm and learn from them.
Did a lot of dating as there were more boys than girls at our school.
I was making up for lost time as I hardly dated at all in high school. I fell in love several times and had my heart broken too.
Unfortunately I did not have any direction or goal in mind like my friends did, (they all wanted to be teachers)so I eventually dropped out of school.
